The Raincoast Global Line: Committed to Sustainability The only difference between our Global brand and other seafood products is the sourcing location of our tuna. Our commitment to sustainable seafood practices, however, remains unwavering across all our offerings.

All our Skipjack Tuna is wild-caught from an MSC-certified Pole & Line fishery in the Maldives, then cooked once inside a BPA-free can. Our products sourced from the Maldives are also certified as Dolphin Safe. This Pole & Line fishing method, coupled with the MSC Certification Standards, ensures that our fishing is done at a sustainable rate, minimizing bycatch and habitat damage.

Moreover, our tuna is 100% traceable from boat to can, with no bleaching or pre-cooking involved. Low in mercury and free of additives or preservatives, our tuna is packed in water, without any added oils or artificial ingredients.

The Taste of Sustainability Skipjack Tuna, the variety we source, is less firm than other types, but it has a delicious, rich flavor that makes it the perfect choice for tuna tacos and sandwiches. We are committed to sourcing all our tuna from MSC-certified fisheries using the Pole & Line method, ensuring a sustainable supply for generations to come.

Certifications Ensuring Responsible Sourcing Almost all Raincoast Trading products are MSC-certified as sustainable. To achieve this certification, fishing practices must be conducted at a sustainable rate, with minimal impact on the ecosystem.

In addition, as a subsidiary of St. Jean's Cannery and Smokehouse, Raincoast Trading is certified by the Canadian Aboriginal and Minority Supplier Council (CAMSC) as a diverse supplier in Canada.
